About Spinal Rehabilitation

At Illawarra Rehabilitation Clinic, we provide specialised spinal rehabilitation to help people recover from back pain, neck pain, disc injuries, sciatica and other spinal conditions. Whether your symptoms have developed suddenly following an injury or have been present for months or years, our goal is to reduce pain, restore movement and help you regain confidence in your body.

Our physiotherapists and exercise physiologists work together to develop personalised rehabilitation programs tailored to your condition, goals and current level of function. Treatment may include hands-on therapy, targeted exercise, hydrotherapy, rehabilitation gym programs and education to help you better understand and manage your condition.

We understand that spinal pain can affect every aspect of life, from work and sport to sleeping, driving and everyday activities. That’s why we focus on addressing the underlying causes of pain and dysfunction, rather than simply treating symptoms.

What makes Illawarra Rehabilitation Clinic different is our integrated approach to rehabilitation. By combining physiotherapy, exercise physiology, hydrotherapy and gym-based rehabilitation under one roof, we are able to provide a comprehensive pathway from pain management through to long-term recovery and improved physical function.

Whether you are recovering from a spinal injury, surgery or managing a chronic spinal condition, our team is committed to helping you move better, feel stronger and return to doing the things you enjoy.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Spinal Rehabilitation FAQs

What is spinal rehabilitation?

Spinal Rehabilitation is a specialised rehabilitation and exercise-based programming designed to help people recover from back pain, neck pain, sciatica, disc injuries, spinal conditions, and spinal surgery. At Illawarra Rehabilitation Clinic, we have a long-standing interest in spinal rehabilitation and extensive experience helping patients manage both acute and chronic spinal conditions.

Treatment may involve hands-on treatment, gym-based rehabilitation, hydrotherapy, or a combination of all three, allowing us to tailor treatment to your specific condition and goals.

What conditions can we help?

Spinal Rehabilitation can help people experiencing lower back pain, neck pain, sciatica, disc bulges, disc degeneration, spinal stenosis, spinal arthritis, postural dysfunction, and recovery following spinal surgery.

Our physiotherapists and exercise physiologists use a combination of manual therapy, hydrotherapy, and exercise rehabilitation to improve strength, mobility, function, and confidence while reducing the risk of future episodes of pain.

Who can benefit from treatment?

Spinal Rehabilitation may benefit anyone experiencing persistent back pain, neck pain, nerve pain, reduced mobility, weakness, or difficulty performing everyday activities due to a spinal condition. It is suitable for people recovering from spinal surgery, workplace injuries, sporting injuries, disc injuries, or longstanding spinal pain.

At Illawarra Rehabilitation Clinic, we have a special interest in spinal rehabilitation and offer treatment through physiotherapy, exercise physiology, hydrotherapy, and gym-based rehabilitation. This integrated approach allows patients throughout Warilla, Shellharbour, Wollongong, and the Illawarra to receive comprehensive spinal care in one location.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly with our team without a referral. However, referrals may be required for some workers compensation, CTP, DVA and Medicare-funded treatment programs.
